Day 3 – Warm-up for the girls in a cacti forest.

Cafayate, April 8th – This morning, as a local crowd applauded, the Roses left the hotel in order to reach the wine-producing region of Cafayate.
After 118 km discovering the superb Argentinean landscapes, they moved on to the calibration of the vehicle. This crucial stage allows us to establish a coefficient and thus to put all the vehicles on an equal footing on the kilometres counter basis.
Then, for the next 143 km, the Roses start driving higher up and the change of scenery is radical. Giant cacti, as far as they can see, several “rios” crossing, dry valleys and snowed volcanoes in the back. The setting is in place! Thanks to today’s warm-up the girls have been able to get used to their road book and compass again while enjoying breath-taking landscapes.
The last 80km where tracks and paved road alternate, led them finally to the bivouac which has been settled down in the heart of Cafayate, a little town from the Argentinean wine-producing region. After installing their tent, the Roses have been able to enjoy a good diner by the fire and to share their first impressions. They soon reached their tent for a well-deserved rest after 12 hours driving. At 11:30 pm o’clock, the remaining teams who faced technical problems have arrived.
